Aaron Hernandez Says Tim Tebow 'Brought a Lot of Energy to the Game' at FloridaFOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez knows all about the magic that quarterback Tim Tebow has generated for the Broncos.

The pair were teammates at Florida from 2007-09, and Hernandez was with the Gators for one of Tebow’s two national championships. Hernandez has never been shy about his admiration for Tebow, so he obviously hasn’t been surprised to see Tebow lead the Broncos into first place in the AFC West.

“He brought a lot of energy to the game,” Hernandez said. “”And when someone has energy, most people take from it and have more energy.”

Hernandez caught 111 passes for 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns during his three seasons at Florida, and he won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end in 2009.

Hernandez said the two still speak on a regular basis, and the Patriots tight end was amused by all of the questions he fielded Wednesday about his former college teammate.

“He’s a popular person,” Hernandez said. “A lot of people liked him, so you’re going to get a lot of media toward Tim Tebow.”
