Barcelona once again has bragging rights in the Spanish League after picking up a 3-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The win comes despite what appeared to be the best opportunity for Real Madrid to win El Clasico.

With the fastest goal in El Clasico history, the Frenchman Karim Benzema put Madrid on top 22 seconds into the match. But Barcelona followed with goals by the Chilean Alexis Sanchez, Xavi Hernandez and Cecs Fabregas.

With the victory, Josep Guardiola's charges remain unbeaten at the "white house", reaching 37 points to take the lead in the Liga of Spain.

With the spectators still taking their seats, the ball was sent back to goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who cleared the wrong way.

Lionel Messi came close to tying it in six minutes after the "Flea" opened space, but goalkeeper Iker Casillas made a remarkable low block to save Madrid.

Real Madrid had a good chance to score in the 24th minute, but the Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo sent his shot over the side while Di Maria was open in front of the goal.

Moments later, Alexis Sanchez evened the score at 1-1 after taking a pass from Messi.

The first half ended with various fouls and the match started the same way in the second half, which created few chances. But Barcelona was still able to get back on the scoreboard in the 53rd minute with a shot by Xavi Hernandez.

Xavi's shot took a rebound on the edge of the area, and a deflection from defender Marcelo surprised Real Madrid's goalkeeper and went into the back of the net.

Real Madrid's counterattack nearly made it 2-2, but Cristiano Ronaldo's header went wide near the right post.

Immediately after the play, Barcelona stretched its lead to 3-1 in the 66th minute behind a great move by the Brazilian Daniel Alves and a great cross just in time for Cesc Fabregas. Fabregas scored the header and killed Madrid's hopes.

The defeat ended a streak of 15 straight wins for Real Madrid, while Guardiola recorded his sixth victory at the Bernabeu.
