Belichick was asked about his quarterback in an appearance on Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN Radio. In addition to the usual praise for his quarterback, he also added, according to the Boston Herald's Ian Rapoport, that he was proud "that without Tom Brady we still won 11 games in [2008]. We have a program here."
The obvious parallel drawn is to the Indianapolis Colts, who are 0-11 this season without quarterback Peyton Manning. Belichick isn't the first to make mention of the 2008 Patriots in relation to the 2011 Colts, and he certainly won't be the last.
The comment sticks out, though, on a week where the Patriots host the winless, Manning-less Colts at Gillette Stadium.
Belichick is cognizant of every word every single player on his roster says. How could he not be aware of what he was saying — directly or indirectly — about the Colts?
