Dan Duquette, Orioles Hire Former Red Sox Scout Danny Haas to Be National Crosschecker

Dan Duquette has added a former Red Sox scout to his staff.

The Baltimore Orioles announced that they have hired Danny Haas to be the club's national crosschecker.

Haas spent the last 10 seasons as an amateur scout in the Boston organization, most recently serving as the Red Sox' Southeast crosschecker. He was hired by the Red Sox in 2002, near the end of Duquette's tenure as Boston's general manager.

The 35-year-old Haas served as a Midwest area scout upon joining the Sox organization, and served as the Upper Midwest/Northeast crosschecker from 2006 to 2009, during which the Sox added Ryan Kalish, Ryan Lavarnway and Kyle Weiland to their system.

Haas was named Boston's Amateur Scout of the Year in 2004, and he signed pitcher Michael Bowden in the supplemental round of the 2005 draft.
