FOXBORO, Mass. — The Titans have been one of the NFL's most surprising teams through Week 16, and they've still got an outside shot to snag the AFC's final playoff seed. Don't think it hasn't caught the attention of Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty.

McCourty's twin brother, Jason, is a cornerback in Tennessee, and the New England corner is hoping for the opportunity to meet him in the playoffs. The pair have not yet played against each other in the NFL, though the Patriots and Titans are set to meet in Nashville next season.

"To play him would be cool no matter [when it] happened," Devin McCourty said, "but that can't happen [until] we've got to do what we've got to do and he has to do what he has to do."

The Titans are competing for the last wild-card spot with the Bengals, Jets and Raiders, but they've got some long odds. Tennessee can clinch the sixth seed in one of three ways:

  • A victory at Houston, and a Bengals loss at home against Baltimore, and a Jets victory at Miami, and a Raiders loss or tie at home against San Diego.
  • A victory at Houston, and a Bengals loss at home against Baltimore, and a Jets victory at Miami, and a Broncos loss or tie at home against Kansas City.

If the Patriots wrap up the No. 1 seed with a victory against the Bills and the Titans get in, the two teams would meet if the Titans upset the Texans in the wild-card round of the playoffs. McCourty said he'll be paying attention, just like any other week.

"When it comes on the screen, each week I always look up to see if they're up or they're down," McCourty said. "It's natural. It's my twin brother. No matter what, I always look up to see how they're doing."
