When Alkmaar Zaanstreek goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado was attacked by a fan during Wednesday's Becker KNVB Becker match with Ajax, he did what most people would do. Apparently, that's frowned upon.

Esteban defended himself against the field-storming hooligan during the 38-minute mark. The crazed fan tried to kick the Costa Rican keeper in the face, at which point Esteban kicked him to the ground, before then going after the fan again.

After all was said and done, Esteban received a red card for his self-defense, understandably upsetting him. That was all AZ head coach Gertjan Verbeek had to see.

Verbeek headed onto the pitch and told his players to head for the locker room. Representatives of both sides and match officials then decided to cancel the game, and it remains unclear what the consequences will be for AZ or whether the match will be rescheduled for a later date.
