Lovie Smith Says Bears 'Not Signing Anyone,' Bringing Swift End to Donovan McNabb, Brett Favre RumorsThe Chicago Bears' quarterback situation has gotten ugly over the past couple of weeks, with Jay Cutler suffering a thumb injury that has left little hope for a return in the regular season. This has opened the door to several rumors — with merit or otherwise — about the team pursuing a quarterback on the free agent market.

The subject of those rumors? Donovan McNabb and… you guessed it, Brett Favre.

Put an end to it all now: Bears head coach Lovie Smith killed two birds with one stone on Monday at a news conference.

"We're not looking on the outside [for a quarterback]," said Smith. "We don't have a quarterback tryout or anything like that."

The current front man of the group is Caleb Hanie, who has been sacked 11 times and picked off six times in his two starts this season, both losses. But none of that deterred Smith from giving him a vote of confidence to the media.

"Caleb's our quarterback," Smith said.

So there you go.
