James Harrison has been a popular name over the past year around the NFL offices, where the league reviews helmet-to-helmet hits.
Last season the Steelers defensive standout was fined $125,000 for illegal hits. Harrison's most recent rule violation occured last week when he laid a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.
McCoy, who suffered a concussion on the play and is not playing Sunday, was considered a "defenseless player" as he had thrown the ball before being hit.
The NFL hasn't yet made a ruling but it is expected that Harrison will at least be hit with a large fine, as he is a repeat offender, ESPN reports.
Harrison however, didn't see anything wrong with the hit, and maybe that, in itself is the root of the problem.
"From what I understand, once the quarterback leaves the pocket, he's considered a runner," Harrison said. "All the defenseless(ness) and liberties that a quarterback has in the pocket are gone and you can tackle him just as he's a running back. The hit wasn't late, so I really don't understand why it was called."
The league should have a ruling on the play early next week.
