Paul Pierce Says That He Is 'Very Very Close' to Returning From InjuryThe Celtics, after an 0-3 start, need all the help they can get right now. They may be on the verge of getting back one of the best players in the history of the franchise.

Paul Pierce, who hasn't played a game this season because of a right heel injury, gave an update on his status on Thursday night via Twitter.

"I'm close very very close very," the Celtics' captain tweeted.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers ruled Pierce out for the Miami and New Orleans games prior to Tuesday's game with the Heat. Rivers did say, though, that a return on Friday night for the home opener against Detroit could be a possibility.

The C's have had a forgettable 0-3 start to the condensed season. Their three road defeats have come at the hands of Eastern Conference powers New York and Miami, before they dropped an ugly 19-point game in New Orleans on Wednesday night.

Sasha Pavlovic has been starting in the place of Pierce and hasn't been able to contribute much. In three starts, Pavlovic is averaging just four points and 1.7 rebounds in 15 minutes per night.
