Report: Lakers Close to Acquiring Chris Paul From Hornets as Part of Three-Team DealSo much for the Chris Paul-to-Boston trade rumors.

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hornets are telling teams that they are sending the All-Start point guard to the Los Angeles Lakers. According to Wojnarowski, the Lakers will send Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom to New Orleans as part of the deal. Wojnarowski originally reported that Andrew Bynum, not Gasol would be part of the deal, but he amended that shortly thereafter.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard is also reporting that the Houston Rockets are involved in the trade. According to Broussard, Gasol would head to Houston and the Hornets would also receive either Luis Scola or Kevin Martin

Broussard says that the Lakers want to hold on to Bynum in order to use him in a potential trade for Magic center Dwight Howard.

It’s uncertain at this point whether or not Paul has or will agree to a contract extension as part of the deal. His contract is set to expire after this season, though he does have a player option for the 2012-13 season.
