Terry Francona and Bobby Valentine sat side-by-side at the winter meetings in Dallas and discussed what it's like to essentially trade jobs.
Weird? Of course. The two admit that. But they also shared some laughs, and there never really seemed to be any awkwardness.
Francona, now an ESPN analyst, and Valentine, new Red Sox manager, sat down with ESPN's Karl Ravech to talk about the past, present and future. The duo joked about the clubhouse cuisine and the stress of managing in Boston.
Francona said it'll be a little weird walking into his former office with his new job, but he appears ready to take on the challenge.
"I'll rip you," Francona advised Valentine.
All jokes aside, though, the two looked genuinely happy despite what is inherently a strange scenario. And each made it perfectly clear that they're ready for a new challenge.
"I'm very lucky,'' Francona said. "So are you.''
"I'm very lucky, too,'' Valentine said.
