The B's 12-0-1 performance in the month of November marked the first time that Boston had completed a month without a loss in regulation. The last time that happened was January of 1969.
It's a pretty remarkable run, no doubt, but where does it rank among some of the more impressive runs in Boston sports history?
Larry Bird's 1985-86 Celtics team was unbeatable at home. Well, just about unbeatable. The C's steamrolled the competition that season at the Boston Garden, going an unprecedented 40-1 in front of the home crowd. In fact, the Celtics went on to win all 10 of their home games in the playoffs on the way to winning the NBA championship.
Shortly thereafter, it was time for the Red Sox to go on an incredible run of their own. Walpole Joe Morgan wasted no time making an impact in his first season on the job with the Red Sox, as the manager saw his team jump out to a 19-1 record. Going 19-1 in any sport is impressive, but in a sport in which failure is so abundant like baseball, that record is unheard of.
Then, of course, you have the 2007 Patriots. Tom Brady and Randy Moss rewrote the record books as part of an unstoppable offense that helped New England go 16-0 in the regular season. Two wins later, and the Pats were looking at the first 19-0 season in NFL history. That wasn't meant to be, as the Giants pulled off the shocker in the Super Bowl, but an 18-1 mark over the course of the season is impressive regardless.
