FOXBORO, Mass. — Broncos kicker Matt Prater won't be the only player in Denver this weekend with a strong leg.

Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker actually kicked a 57-yard field goal for Heritage Hall High School in Oklahoma City. He said it was late in the game with the outcome already in hand, so the only thing dramatic about the kick was the distance.

With the thin air in Denver, Welker was asked if he thought about the possibility to loosen up the leg before the game, just to see what he's capable of handling.

"Not really, because I won't be able to top some of those guys," Welker said. "I never really thought about it."

Prater kicked a 59-yard field goal last week to force overtime against the Bears, and he drilled a 51-yarder for the victory. Welker said his longest field goal in practice was, "around 60 or something like that, lots of wind behind me."
