Welker has been wearing some protection on his right wrist this week — first at a charity event Tuesday and then Thursday in the Patriots’ locker room. It was unclear if he had been wearing it at practice this week because of his gloves and long sleeves.
It looked like a soft, removable cast, though Welker was coy about the medical jargon.
“I never wore a brace, so I’m not sure where that’s coming from,” Welker said. “I’m just out there trying to play some ball.”
When asked, then, if he’d call it a soft cast, Welker said, “Not a soft cast, just a little lining.”
At any rate, Welker has only been on the injury report this week with a knee ailment, which means the team believes the wrist issue has no bearing on his availability for Sunday’s game against the Redskins.
