Zach Hamill Recalled From Providence As Bruins Deal With Mounting Injury IssuesAfter practice Monday at Ristuccia Arena, Bruins coach Claude Julien noted that the team would discuss potentially calling up a forward sometime later in the day or early on Tuesday.

They acted in the early portion of that window, calling up Zach Hamill from Providence on Monday evening. It will be the second stint in Boston this season for Hamill, who had an assist and was a plus-3 in two games with the big club in November.

Hamill was called up on an emergency basis as the Bruins have been suddenly stricken with a string of injuries. In addition to the defense being shorthanded with captain Zdeno Chara being sidelined with a lower-body injury suffered Saturday in Columbus, the Bruins also have forwards Daniel Paille and Gregory Campbell banged up.

Paille suffered a mild concussion last Thursday against Florida and did not travel with the team to Columbus. He returned to practice on Monday but has not been cleared for game action yet. He is questionable for Tuesday's game against Los Angeles.

Campbell is also questionable for that game. He did not practice on Monday and Julien stated that Campbell was in a walking boot after getting hit in the foot by a shot on Saturday.

The Bruins have just 13 forwards on their roster, thus the need for Hamill to give them the full complement of 12 on Tuesday if both Paille and Campbell are unable to play.

Hamill, the eighth overall pick of the 2007 draft, has finally begun to put things together as a pro this season after being shifted from center to wing in Providence. He has 7-7-14 totals in 25 games with the Bruins' AHL affiliate.

Hamill has played in six NHL games over the last three seasons, with 0-3-3 totals.
