Cam Ward Earns Lucky ‘Road Trip Ricochet’ Award After Stonewalling Bruins Again

One of these days, the Bruins will figure out the Carolina Hurricanes. It just wasn’t Saturday night. The Bruins fell to the Canes again to start their road trip on a down note, losing 4-2 after a third-period comeback by Carolina.

It felt like the Bruins kept knocking on the doorstep, but Ward wouldn’t let them in. A handful of chance bounces later, Tim Thomas had given up three unlucky goals and the Bruins were looking up at the scoreboard wondering where they’d gone wrong.

NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is trying to give the Hurricanes the benefit of the doubt here, but considering all three goals were re-directed past Thomas, it’s hard to feel like this wasn’t a lucky win for them. That’s why he’s giving Cam Ward the “Road Trip Ricochet” player of the game award.
