Glen Davis will make his return to the TD Garden Monday night after being trading to the Orlando Magic for Brandon Bass this past offseason.
Davis spent four seasons in Boston where he averaged 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game and played a role in helping Boston win the 2008 NBA championship.
When Kendrick Perkins made his return to Boston earlier this month, the crowd greeted him with a rousing applause and standing ovation for his contributions during his time with the Celtics. Davis would appreciate a similar reaction, according to Boston.com.
"I don't know, I hope so, I hope they give me love," Davis said. "I was there for a long time. I think they will. I'll probably get some boos. Whereever the situation was right, that's where I was going."
The Celtics are unlikely to play a video for Big Baby as they did for Perkins, but on the off-chance that they do, Davis told the Orlando Sentinel he may get emotional.
"If they play a video [tribute] or something, it will be kind of a [tearjerker]," he said. "I don't think I'll cry if they cheer, but if they play that song, 'I Remember You,' I mean that’s a sad song, who doesn’t cry over that?"
"We just have to let it play out," Davis' teammate, Dwight Howard said. "He's emotional. He might cry. We'll make sure we bring a big pacifier."
