Joe Paterno Memorial Tickets Pulled From eBay, Website Claims Listings Violate Policy

Joe Paterno's memorial is likely going to attract many members of the Happy Valley community. Some, however, decided to make a buck off the longtime Penn State coach's death.

As sick as it sounds, there were some people who listed tickets to Paterno's memorial service on eBay after they were made available — for free — to the Penn State community, TMZ reports. However, the auction site reportedly isn't standing for this, and it's since pulled the listings.

eBay said that the ticket listings violate one of the website's policies.

A rep for eBay told TMZ that the site doesn't "allow the sale of tickets to events in which all tickets are free to the public.

"In accordance with the policy," the rep added, "eBay will not allow the sale of tickets to Joe Paterno's memorial service."

While it seems unreasonable for one to auction off tickets to a memorial service, it didn't stop bidders from flocking to eBay. One bid for a pair of passess reportedly reached $99,509 before eBay pulled it.
