"We looked pretty solid at the back and I think they had one shot in the first half and not much more after that," Dalglish said. "The boys at the back looked pretty comfortable, they were only playing against one person."
Jamie Carragher started a Premier League game for the first time since the draw against Norwich on Oct. 22. He was flanked by Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates. Daniel Agger missed outs with an undisclosed injury, so the afformentioned trio were responsible for tracking Stoke's lone striker Peter Crouch.
The former LFC forward posed little threat during Saturday's game. In fact, he spent a good part of the second half tracking back and helping his team's defensive effort.
That allowed Skrtel and Coates to push into the attack, and provide an extra outlet for Liverpool's midfielders. Although Dalglish was annoyed with his team's inability to score, he was pleased with his players' mentality during the contest.
"There was nothing wrong with the players' effort or determination, but on the day we just weren't good enough to break them down."
