Kevin Durant and Jeff Green no longer play together, but that isn't stopping Durant from dedicating his season to his former teammate.
Green, of course, is sidelined for the entire season because of an aortic aneurysm that required heart surgery. Durant is currently in the midst of another stellar season, but he hasn't forgotten the time he spent with Green.
Since meeting as teenagers in the D.C. area, Durant and Green have been close friends. The bond they share grew stronger in 2007, when both became members of the Oklahoma City Thunder (then the Seattle Supersonics). The duo spent three-plus seasons together before Green was shipped to Boston last February.
"He's like my brother. We came in together. We were drafted together," Durant said. "Me and Jeff [have] been through a lot. It hurt me for a while that he wasn't there with us every single day."
The emotional struggle that Durant endured following the trade is nothing compared to how he feels now. For this reason, Durant has decided to honor his friend.
"I dedicate the season to him," Durant said. "I talk to him all the time. He supports me. I support him."
