Call me crazy, Michigan alums, but it could be time to rewrite one of the most famous fight songs in sports.

“Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu’ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Brunettes!”

Following his 37-yard field goal in overtime to give the Wolverines a 23-20 Sugar Bowl victory (their first BCS bowl win in more than a decade), Brendan Gibbons gave credit to “brunette girls” in the postgame news conference when asked what was going through his mind leading up to the kick.

“Every time we were struggling in kicking, Coach tells me to think about girls on a beach or brunette girls,” Gibbons said. “So that’s what we did. Made the kick.”
