Ray Lewis and Arian Foster share a great deal of respect for each other. That respect was on display after the final whistle of Sunday's Ravens-Texans divisional round showdown.
After Lewis and the Ravens prevailed over Foster and the Texans to earn an opportunity to face the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, the two competitors came together at midfield. But upon greeting each other, the embrace went beyond a typical postgame handshake.
Instead, each took off his jersey and autographed it, before eventually exchanging the memorabilia. Foster received Lewis' signed jersey, and vice versa. Judging by how long each was writing, there were likely a couple of personal messages written as well.
This exchange comes on the heels of a New York Times article detailing the two's relationship. Lewis reportedly told Foster during a 2010 showdown that he loved the way the running back played the game, a gesture that has since evolved into a friendship.
Lewis said after the game that their friendship goes beyond wins and losses, and that he loves Foster to death. The Baltimore linebacker said that's what the game is all about: creating real relationships.
