Red Sox Restructure Medical Staff With Rick Jameyson Joining Club as Head Athletic Trainer

Red Sox General Manager Ben Cherington announced a new look for the team's medical staff this afternoon.

Rick Jameyson is the most notable addition, joining the team as the head athletic trainer after spending 20 seasons with the Cleveland Indians. Mike Reinold, who previous held that position, will move to head physical therapist. Reinold has been with the team since 2006.

Beneath them, Brad Pearson, who is entering his 10th year with the club, has been promoted from the minor league athletic training coordinator to the team's assistant athletic trainer position. Pat Sandora, who has served with the Rangers, Brewers, and Indians, will take over as the Strength and Conditioning coach.

Dan Dyrek is new to the team and will take over as the clinical consultant. Mike Boyle will also be a new consultant with the team, but in the realm of strength and conditioning. Larry Ronan will continue as the head team internist. He has held the position since 2005. Peter Asnis has served as a team physician since 2005 and will be promoted to head team orthopedist. Asnis also does work with the Bruins and the Patriots.

Finally, Jim Rowe will serve as the medical operations coordinator, Masai Takahashi will continue as an assistant athletic trainer, Russell Nua and Mitsugi Funatsu return as massage therapists, and Tom "TJ" Hagan joins as a chiropractor consultant.
