Baseball fans, get ready for more exciting postseason action. Two more wild card teams are more than likely going to be added for the 2012 playoffs.
Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig talked with reporters at SoxFest in Chicago and was very upbeat about the addition of two more wild card teams to add a round of one-game playoff matchups for both the American League and the National League, according to the Chicago Tribune.
"I really believe we'll have the [extra] wild card for this year," Selig told reporters on Friday. "Clubs really want it. I don't think I've ever seen an issue that clubs want more than to have the extra wild card."
Some teams have argued about a three-game series, but the schedule for the 2012 season is already in place and it would be hard to schedule even more games and still end the season on time.
"We're working on dates right now," Selig added. "It looks to me like we'll have it, because I've told everybody we have to have it. It will be exciting. A one-game playoff and it will start the playoffs in a very exciting manner."
