Report: Liverpool Sets Sights on Esteban Granero, Real Madrid Outcast Available for £8 Million

Just two seasons ago, rumored Liverpool target Esteban Granero was a key part of the midfield at Spanish giants Real Madrid. He now watches most of its games from the stands, and can be purchased in January for around £8 million ($12.5 million), according to Talksport.

The 24-year-old central midfielder's playing time has steadily eroded since Jose Mourinho took over as manager in the summer 2010. After making 33 appearances last season, he was limited to seven (two starts) in all competitions this season.

Granero is a central midfielder and Spanish international at the U-19, U-20 and U-21 levels. The product of Madrid's youth system has reportedly drawn interest from Liverpool and Blackburn.

He still has plenty of upside because of his age and reported fee. If he becomes a regular in the first-team at a new club, his resale value would potentially skyrocket.
