Bill Belichick has seen his coordinators leave a few times in order to pursue head coaching careers. Bill O'Brien could wind up being the next to do so.

The Jaguars requested and received permission to interview O'Brien, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter also reports that O'Brien is still squarely on Penn State's radar, which contradicts an earlier report that O'Brien would not leave for the Penn State head coaching gig.

O'Brien has been with the Patriots since 2007, when he was hired as an offensive assistant. He's since moved up the ranks to his current offensive coordinator position, which he's held since February.

Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will also interview for Jacksonville's head coaching position, according to the New York Daily News.

The Jaguars fired former head coach Jack Del Rio earlier this season, and Mel Tucker has held the position on an interim basis since.
