Report: Sources Deny Clippers Are on Dwight Howard’s Trade List

Dwight Howard would make any team in the NBA better. If you put him on the Los Angles Clippers, though, he would probably make the Clips legitimate NBA title contenders.

That notion has been floated around some in the last day after SheridanHoops.com reported that Howard had added the Clippers to the list of teams he would approve a trade to. However, the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday night that the two teams haven’t discussed a trade, and that if the Magic center does have interest in the Clippers, neither team is aware of that yet.

Chris Sheridan reported on Monday that the Clippers had been added to the short list of teams that Howard would prefer to be traded to. That short list already includes the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey Nets.

“He’s been watching them a lot,” a source told Sheridan. “He’s intrigued by the Clippers.”

Sheridan says that same source also indicated the Howard is likely to finish the year in Orlando.

If reports of Howard’s interest were true, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise. Playing for the Clippers would give the All-Star center a chance to play in a big market like Los Angeles. Perhaps more importantly, if a deal could somehow get done (no small matter), the Clippers would have an incredible core. Howard would join an already dynamic team that features the likes of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.
