Ryo, as he known, is one of Arsenal’s hottest prospects, but has been stuck in the reserves this season. He’s made just two Carling Cup appearances and has yet to debut in the Premier League.
Gervinho, Andrey Arshavin, Theo Walcott, Thierry Henry and fellow teenager Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all ahead of the Japanese winger in manager Arsene Wenger‘s pecking order.
Ryo joined the Gunners a year ago, but spent the first six months of 2011 on loan at Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam. He impressed in a 12-game loan spell, scoring three goals and adding five assists.
He was able to secure a work permit before the season, but Arsenal’s slow start saw Wenger reveamp his squad around more experienced players.
Bolton’s options in the attack are relatively thin, and Ryo should get the playing time he needs at the Reebok Stadium. He will return to Arsenal in the summer better prepared to compete for first-team playing time.
