Scott Allan is set to snub interest from Liverpool, Celtic and Rangers and join Roy Hodgson at West Brom instead.
The BBC reports the highly-rated Scottish midfielder will complete a £300,000 ($462,750) move from Dundee United, and join the Premier League club by next week.
"I think it's great to have attracted such an interesting young talent from just north of the border," Hodgson said. "I believe he's got other options but I'm hoping the conversations he's had with Dan Ashworth [West Brom sporting director], me and other representatives of the club have gone so far that I'm sure he's not just down here to waste his time.
"So I'm very hopeful, come next week, I'll be told I can welcome him to training sessions."
The 20-year-old is the jewel of Dundee United's youth system but has only appeared in nine games in all competitions.
It is unknown how serious Liverpool was about acquiring the player, but he will have a greater chance of playing for the first team at West Brom (in the near term) than he would with the Reds.
