Of course, the All-Star Game will represent the unofficial midway point of the season, but regardless, we’ve reached the point of the season where teams often struggle to give premium efforts night in and night out.
The Bruins haven’t been impervious to this, either, as the B’s have been in a bit of a funk lately, at least relative to the blistering pace they were playing at. In the process, the Ottawa Senators have turned things on and made it a race in the Northeast Division. The Sens are all of a sudden within in a few points of the Bruins, although the defending champs do have some games in hand.
They’re not the only surging team, though. The New York Rangers continue their torrid pace atop the Eastern Conference, and that should set up a can’t-miss showdown on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden when the Blueshirts come in to take on the B’s.
Meanwhile, you can’t deny the incredible job being done by Ken Hitchcock in St. Louis. After taking over in early November, all Hitchcock has done is lead the Blues to a 21-5-6 record, a record that has them entering action on Tuesday night tied atop the Western Conference.
