Vote: Which Patriots Defender Is Most Crucial to Team's Success in Super Bowl XLVI?The Giants have a good offense.

The Patriots' defense? Much improved.

When the two clubs meet at Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, fans all over the world will be dazzled by two tremendous offenses, led by Eli Manning and Tom Brady, respectively.

But who on the Pats' defense is crucial to the team's success?

Vince Wilfork is the heart and soul of the defense, and as seen in the postseason, when he's hot, his fellow defensive mates heat up, too.

Tackling machine Jerod Mayo sets the pace on defense week-in and week-out, and can be found in almost every single pile. Without him on the top of his game, how would the rest of the unit play? Behind him is the equally important safety Patrick Chung, who missed a good portion of the second half of the season due to injury. His big hits and knack for the ball are going to be crucial when trying to contain the Giants passing game.

Speaking of that passing game, the Pats defensive backs certainly have their hands full as they'll be trying to contain Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham, among others. Devin McCourty, the team's first-round pick in 2010, had a rough regular season, but he'll be looked upon to smother Manning's targets. Speaking of targets, look for the G-Men to attack (quarterback-turned) wide receiver-turned-defensive back Julian Edelman whenever he hits the pitch. The special teamer is going to have his hands full on all sides of the ball come Sunday and one slip on defense can easily turn into six points.
