Arsenal Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny Quits Twitter to 'Grow Up' and Focus on Playing Soccer Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, 21, sensationally retired Sunday, following the Gunners' 2-1 loss against Manchester United. The Polish shot stopper has hung up his smartphone and quit the popular social network Twitter.

Compared to some of his fellow professionals, Szczesny was an infrequent tweeter. But when he took to the realm, he usally made a splash. Arsenal showed him a yellow earlier this month, when he joked about a shirt his teammate Aaron Ramsey wore on a golf outing.

"I don't wanna be rude mate but you look like a rapist on that picture! lol. Looking like a rapist/pedofile (sic) isn't a good thing either ;)," the deleted tweets said.

Szczesny apologized for the controversial tweet, and has been on his best behavior ever since.

Talk of crisis has has returned to Arsenal in recent weeks. The Gunners have dropped three-straight Premier League games since the start of 2012. Szczesny has continued to impress in his first full season as Arsenal's starting goalkeeper, but the ultra-competitive stopper is looking to gain an edge. Sparing his thumbs from overuse is one way to do just that.
