Well, that is one way to lose a prestigious scholarship.

Yale quarterback Patrick Witt‘s decision to play in last season’s Harvard-Yale football game over attending his Rhodes scholarship interview wasn’t entirely his own. According to The New York Times, Witt withdrew his Rhodes application after he was accused of sexual assault by another student on campus.

The student who accused Witt never went to police or filed a formal complaint, according to the report, but the Rhodes Trust learned of the story “through unofficial channels.”

Witt is no longer enrolled at Yale and has not graduated. He is working out in California to prepare for a possible NFL career.
