Yoenis Cespedes has been one of this offseason's most intriguing storylines. Now, the Cuban prospect has officially become a free agent.

Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday that Cespedes, who's caught the attention of a number of big league clubs, has been granted free agency and may now sign with any team. The news comes in the wake of Cespedes gaining residency in the Dominican Republic.

The outfielder's representative must now unblock him, pursuant to the Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations, before he can enter into a contract.

The Marlins, Cubs, White Sox, Orioles, Tigers and Indians are among the teams that have reportedly expressed interest in the Cuban phenom.

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that the Marlins are prepared to make a significant offer to Cespedes, which could be between four-to-six years in length.

Cespedes, who has been scouted extensively, became a hot topic this offseason after videos of him showcasing his skills surfaced on YouTube.
