Bobby Valentine Reflects on Hectic Travel Schedule, Super Bowl Text With Bill BelichickWORCESTER –– Since taking the Red Sox managerial job, Bobby Valentine has traveled nonstop.

His flights over the past two months have taken him to the Dominican Republic, Texas, Arizona, Florida, New Jersey, South Carolina, Connecticut, Rhode Island and all throughout Massachusetts. He heads back to Fort Myers on Feb. 12.

"It's almost the way I would hope it could have been drawn up," Valentine said with a smile before NESN’s Town Hall taping on Wednesday. "It's not going to be such a cold plunge once spring training starts, and that’s what I was hoping for."

"As far as the city's concerned, I've been able to free up enough time where I feel comfortable even driving and I know where I'm going to live. And I’m not going to be a stranger when I walk into Fenway for the first time on the 13th of April, and I think that's good for me."

Like former Red Sox manager Terry Francona, Valentine is developing friendships with his Boston coaching colleagues. During Super Bowl week, Valentine continued to exchange texts with Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

"Everything is A-OK," Valentine said, recounting Belichick's text.
