Clay Buchholz Calls Dustin Pedroia ‘Most Fierce Competitor’ He’s Ever Been Around

Clay Buchholz made his last start on June 16 last season because of an injury. But after working out extremely hard in the offseason, and having already hit the ground running at spring training, the right-hander is raring to go.

Buchholz said he worked out with Dustin Pedroia this offseason, going through a regimen that led to him losing some weight. Buchholz discussed what it was like working out with the Red Sox second baseman while sitting down with NESN's Tom Caron and Peter Gammons on Monday. He called Pedroia the most fierce competitor he's ever played with, and a guy the rest of the team can lean on.

The righty also talked about what his availability would have have been last season had the Sox made the postseason and the bullpen sessions he's already had this spring.

Check it all out in the video above.
