Floyd Mayweather Discredits Jeremy Lin Hype, Says Guard Is Praised ‘Because He’s Asian’

Floyd Mayweather continues to make news not for what he does inside of a boxing ring, but what he does away from it. Whether it's placing astronomical sports bets or being arrested, Money continues to keep himself in the news.

That's why it shouldn't be too surprising that Mayweather is making news again, this time for an ignorant comment regarding New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin and his ascent to stardom.

"Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian," Mayweather tweeted Monday afternoon. "Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise."

Mayweather is set to get back into the ring on May 5 when he takes on Miguel Cotto — not Manny Pacquiao — in Las Vegas. And then one month after that, Mayweather is headed to jail for 87 days to serve his sentence stemming from a domestic dispute case.
