High Schooler Ryan Potocnik Scores Game-Winning Basket On Wrong Hoop (Video)

They say the best offense can be a good defense. That goes double for basketball if your defense can confuse the other team into beating themselves by scoring on their own basket.

Georgia high schools Norcross and Charlotte Christian were squaring off in the 2012 Hilton Invitational with Charlotte Christian holding onto a one-point lead with seconds left in the game. After the ball was tipped out of bounds, all they had to do was inbound the ball, maybe run a couple of seconds off the clock, make some free throws and ice the game.

Ryan Potocnik had other ideas. The Charlotte Christian player must have been a little disoriented from the late-game pressure and instead scored the game-winning layup on his own hoop after receiving the inbounds pass. Norcross went on to win the game 60-57 in one of the most bizarre endings to a sports game you will ever see.

Check it out for yourself in the video below. The play begins around the 0:30 mark.
