Jarrod Saltalamacchia Considers 2010 Trade to Red Sox a ‘Godsend,’ Grateful for Time in Boston Thus Far

Jarrod Saltalamacchia was a highly touted catching prospect after being drafted 36th overall by the Braves in 2003. Now, nearly nine years later, he's blossoming into one of the game's better backstops.

Saltalamacchia's maturation comes on the heels of some people questioning if and when he'd pan out. The Sox were confident in the catcher, though, which is why they made acquiring him at the 2010 trade deadline a major priority.

Salty's thrilled the Sox made that move as well, calling it a "godsend," and cherishing the time he's spent playing alongside one of the game's great leaders in Jason Varitek.
