Randy Moss made a surprise announcement Monday morning, and it wasn't that he was celebrating his 35th birthday.

The former Patriots wide receiver said he intends to return to football for the 2012 NFL season. He made the announcement on his personal Ustream.

"I just want to go to a team and play some football," Moss said. "Faith, family, and football — that's my M.O., bro. Your boy be back for the upcoming season."

Moss played three-plus seasons in New England from 2007 to 2010 — a stint that included a 23-touchdown campaign in 2007, the most ever for a wide receiver in a single season.

The six-time Pro Bowler hasn't played in the NFL since 2010, when he caught just 28 passes in 16 games with the Patriots, Titans and Vikings.
