Boston will have three more years of Johnny Rockets after this season.
The Bruins announced Tuesday night that Johnny Boychuk has agreed to a three-year contract extension. The team did not release the details, but according to TSN's Bob McKenzie, the deal is worth $3.36 million per season.
Boychuk, a second-round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2002, arrived in Boston via trade during the 2008 offseason. He played one game with the Bruins during the 2008-09 season, and has since evolved into a valuable blueliner for the B's.
The 28-year-old played in 51 games in 2009-10 and 69 games last season. He also played in all 25 of the Boston's playoff games during its Stanley Cup run, registering 3-6-9 postseason totals.
Boychuk has three goals and seven assists through 52 games this season.
