Report: Manny Ramirez to Sign Minor League Deal With AthleticsManny Ramirez will be back in baseball this season, after he pays his debt to Major League Baseball, of course.

The slugger has signed with with the Oakland Athletics, according to ESPN.com. The deal is reportedly worth $500,000, and according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, it is a minor league deal.

Before Ramirez can join the A's, however, he'll have to serve a 50-game suspension for violating the league's drug policy for a second time. That failed test came in 2011 when Ramirez was with Tampa Bay, and Ramirez was slapped with a 100-game suspension. Instead of serving the suspension, Ramirez opted to retire. That was knocked down to 50 games when Ramirez applied for reinstatement.

Ramirez played in just five games with the Rays in 2011. He collected one hit in 17 at-bats. He hasn't played more than 104 games in a seasons since 2008, a year in which he started the season with the Red Sox.
