Rondo has been pegged to replace Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Joe Johnson in the upcoming all-star game in Orlando, according to various reports. Johnson will miss the game due to tendinitis in his left knee.
This will be Rondo's third straight NBA All-Star Game and the Celtics star has been posting solid numbers, albeit in limited action. Rondo is averaging 14.8 points per game and is second in the league in assists with 9.5 per game, only trailing Steve Nash.
Rondo is currently on the back end of a two-game suspension for throwing a ball at a referee during a 96-81 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.
Rondo will join Paul Pierce as the only two members of the Celtics to participate in the All-Star Game, which takes place on Sunday Feb. 26.
