Shawn Thornton Playing Through Illness Shows Ridiculousness of Spurs’ Decision to Rest Starters (Video)

Hockey and basketball apparently have very different opinions on what should constitute a day off.

Shawn Thornton battled flu-like symptoms throughout the day to rally and play against the St. Louis Blues, which isn't all that unusual considering the various bumps and bruises hockey players deal with throughout a season.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs voluntarily benched two of their starters in Tuesday night's game in favor of getting some extra rest.

NESN Nation's Dan Duquette couldn't help but notice the difference between the two attitudes regarding rest and asked our Twitter followers if an NHL team would ever consider benching a player just to rest up. Check out the video to see what they thought.
