For most people, dodgeball was a fundamental experience of childhood. The whole class would head down to the gymnasium, only to find a bunch of red balls lined up at the center of the court. After splitting into teams, all madness broke loose.
At the University of Alberta, they take the game more seriously than most.
Last Friday, 4,983 students, faculty and staff at the university came together to set the Guinness World Record for the largest dodgeball game ever, according to MSNBC.
It took over an hour to play the game, but by the time it was all over, victory had been acheived.
“What can I say,” Philip Robertson, a Guinness representative, said. “I’ve never seen so many people throw dodge balls against each other before. It was tremendous to watch, really good fun. The guidelines were all followed. And with that, I’m happy to announce that University of Alberta, Canada, has a new Guinness World Record.”
Needless to say, if you plan on making a trip to the University of Alberta, watch out for flying red balls.
