It’s been a rough start to the 2012 season for A.J. Burnett to say the very least.

The Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander who was dealt from the Yankees a couple of weeks ago, is out indefinitely after taking a foul ball to the eye while practicing bunting on Wednesday.

The Pirates have announced that Burnett suffered a orbital fracture in his right eye and is set to undergo surgery on Friday.
