It's time to pump the brakes on the Rajon Rondo trade talks, at least according to Celtics head coach Doc Rivers and C's president Danny Ainge.
Rivers addressed the continued trade speculation centered around the Celtics' All-Star point guard, and Rivers sounded confident that Rondo isn't going anywhere.
The head coach told ESPN.com that he spoke with Ainge on Wednesday night and said that the two did not speak about a potential trade for Rondo.
"… In all that time we did not talk once about any trades," Rivers told ESPN.com. "There was not one single thing about Rajon Rondo that crossed my desk."
Ainge did what he could as well to slow the rumors on Thursday.
"I anticipate him being here for a long time," Ainge told the Boston Herald.
"These rumors have never stopped," he added, "but I haven't made a call mentioning Rondo's name since last summer. That was during all of the Chris Paul stuff."
The remarks from Rivers and Ainge contradict an ESPN.com report that said the Celtics are aggressively shopping Rondo. According to the report, the C's have become fed up with Rondo's attitude, including ongoing battles with Rivers.
Rivers also disputed those claims on Thursday.
"My relationship with Rajon is as strong as it has ever been," Rivers told ESPN.com. "Our communication has never been better. I want him here. I can say with almost 100 percent certainty he will be here with us when the season ends. I'm tired of this stuff. It's not fair."
A Celtics team official admitted to ESPN.com that Rondo was indeed a "moody guy," but also added that it's manageable, saying that Rivers "loves" Rondo's competitive spirit.
