"I've spoken about it with people close to him," Four Four Two reports van der Sar told El Universal. "The plan is to bring several assistant coaches to work in the Chivas junior ranks and be able to change several things to reach a higher level. I might like to do that."
Mired in one of the worst stretches in its history, Chivas sought out Cruyff's help in turning around its fortunes. It hired the Dutch icon last month as a (highly-paid) special advisor. He is tasked with assessing all aspects of the club's soccer operations and revemping them as he sees fit.
Van der Sar retired last summer as one of the most decorated goalkeepers of his generation. He won two UEFA Champions League titles in two different eras. He backstopped a youthful Ajax team to glory in 1995, and repeated the feat with Manchester United in 2008.
If he can share his technical gifts and mental strength with young goalkeepers at Chivas, it won't be long before the club produces Mexico's next great stopper.
