Hines Ward Becomes 'Steeler For Life,' Retires With Pittsburgh After being released from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the early days of the 2012 offseason, lifetime Steeler wide receiver Hines Ward announced his retirement Tuesday afternoon.

Ward has been one of the most consistent wide receivers throughout his 14-year NFL career. He has racked up a number of accolades during his career, including two Super Bowl titles, a Super Bowl MVP Award (2006) as well as being a four-time Pro Bowler.

The veteran wide out even eclipsed the 1,000 receptions mark in the 2011 season, a feat that has only been accomplished by seven other receivers (including Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, and surprsingly Terrell Owens among others). Ward also ranks at the top of just about every career receiving record for the Steelers, including receptions (1,000), receiving yards (12,083), and reception touchdowns (85).

While many Patriots fans won't be sad to see Ward missing on the sidelines, Steelers fan will without a doubt miss No. 86 hanging out in the end zone.
