And what a career it’s been.

The Captain will walk away with over 1,300 hits, a pair of World Series rings and the warm love of an entire nation — Red Sox Nation.

From his first hit in Detroit, way back in 1997, to his last RBI-single in the Bronx in September of 2011, Tek has brought New England baseball fans many, many reasons to cheer.

To give you an idea of how long he’s been blocking pitches, smacking singles and calling the shots, the 14th-overall pick in the 1994 draft’s first-career MLB appearance was alongside such former teammates as Jeff Frye, Reggie Jefferson, Wil Cordero, Mike Benjamin and Darren Bragg.
